The Real Cost of 10 Turns on Paid AI Girlfriend Apps: Our Exact Token, Coin, and Moment Ledgers

Paying $12.99 to $24.99 for a monthly subscription is only half the bill. We tracked our exact before-and-after balances across 10chat turns, 3 selfies, voice notes, and a short video on nine apps. One balance didn't move at all, one regenerated back to full while we slept, and two ran too low to buy the next video.

When you subscribe to an AI girlfriend app for $12.99 or $19.99 a month, you expect the meter to stop running. Instead, most apps hand you a starter pouch of in-app currency—Tokens, Dreamcoins, Moments, Sparks, Coins, or XOT—and start charging you every time your companion sends a photo, speaks a sentence, or moves for five seconds.

In our earlier bank statement investigation, we looked at what the checkout pages promised. On October 26 and 27, 2026, while recording our 9 full-screen chat simulators, we audited what actually happened to our wallets during a single 10-turn adult testing session (three turns in Branch A, three in Branch B, four in Branch C, plus the photos, voice notes, and video clip required by the script).

We didn’t just read the number in the top corner of the webpage—which turned out to be a good decision, because two of the nine apps had caching bugs that made their top-bar counters lie.

Three wallet traps our network logs caught red-handed

1. Candy AI’s 30-token automatic video ambush

We started our Candy AI capture with 64 tokens. On paper, when a photo costs 2 tokens and a voice note costs 1 token, 64 tokens sounds like plenty for an evening.

What killed our balance was automatic media delivery. By default, Candy AI turns on Send photos automatically, Send videos automatically, and Autoplay voice notes inside your chat settings. During Branch B, right after we asked for a 5-second video (which cost 12 tokens), Diana’s character pipeline also delivered an automatic 15-second video (B-t3b-video-15s-automatic.mp4).

Even though Candy’s settings text described automatic videos at 18 tokens, that 15-second clip deducted the full 30-token 15-second rate. By the time we finished recording Branch C, our account sat at 8 tokens—too broke to trigger another 12-token 5-second video.

If you subscribe to Candy AI, your very first move should be opening the gear icon (Customise chat experience) and unchecking Send videos automatically. You can practice finding that exact drawer inside our Candy AI simulator.

2. Xotic’s 50-XOT Snaps, 16-XOT replays, and the 750-XOT cliff

Xotic AI uses larger numbers so the math feels abstract until you hit zero. Here is our exact ledger from clone-spec.json:

  • Session start: 584 XOT
  • Branch A Snap photo: -50 XOT → 534 XOT
  • Branch A Turn 3 TTS voice + 1 replay: -32 XOT (16 × 2) → 502 XOT
  • Branch B Turn 2 TTS voice (23.35s): -23 XOT → 479 XOT
  • Branch B Snap photo: -50 XOT → 429 XOT
  • Branch B Create Video attempt: Quoted 750 XOT → Blocked (INSUFFICIENT_TOKENS, 750 > 429)
  • Branch C Snap proof photo: -50 XOT → 379 XOT
  • Verification pass (6 clicks on ‘Play message’ to capture UI states): -96 XOT (16 × 6) → 283 XOT

Notice two things: first, re-listening to a voice message you already paid for costs another 16 XOT every time you click the icon. Second, when you open Settings > XOT at 55 XOT or 39 XOT (where we ended after our final closure pass), Xotic’s own UI prints “That’s ≈ 5 texts with her” / “That’s ≈ 3 texts with her” right above the top-up cards.

3. Why the balance in the top corner of DreamGF and Xotic lies to you

During our verification passes on DreamGF and Xotic, our automated checks initially flagged a discrepancy between the token number shown in the top navigation bar of our screenshots and the token number returned by the server’s API.

When we dug into the DOM and network timelines, we realized both apps have client-side header caching bugs:

  • On Xotic AI, when we generated the Branch B photo (-50 XOT), the server’s true balance dropped from 479 to 429 (which is why the video endpoint immediately rejected our 750-XOT request with tokenBalance: 429). Yet the pink heart pill in the top header still read 479! It lags by one deduction inside a session until you reload the page.
  • On DreamGF, the bug works in both directions. The top-right #dropPlans widget is cached on page render. When we unlocked a 2-token photo (POST /system/unl:chi), the server balance (POST /system/chat:tiers) dropped from 103 to 101, but the header didn’t budge until a full page reload. Conversely, when we clicked the 1-token voice button, the header immediately subtracted 1.0—and when the voice generator failed three seconds later and the server automatically refunded the token (rf: 1), the header didn’t add it back. At 11:03:57 on October 27, our open token dropdown read 102.0 while the server held 103.

The pleasant surprise: Kindroid’s self-healing credit meter

After watching Candy and Xotic chew through balances, Kindroid felt like a different species of software.

During our midnight capture on October 26–27, we generated multiple photos (-1 credit each) and an 8-second video selfie (-5 credits), pulling our standard selfie credit counter down from 25 to 18 at 00:21 CST.

When our reviewer opened the same Kindroid account two and a half hours later (03:31 CST) to take a read-only ledger screenshot—with zero purchases and zero generations in between—the counter had climbed 18 → 19 → 20 → 21 → 24 → 25, right back to the cap ("Credit Balance: 0 Paid · 25 Standard / At standard selfie credit cap (25)"). We even caught it ticking up +1 (23 → 24) at 00:03:46 CST while we were merely typing a video prompt into the box.

Because standard selfie credits regenerate on a timer, a patient user on Kindroid’s $13.99/month web plan never has to buy a credit pack at all.

Click through the token meters without spending your own money

In our 9 full-screen chat simulators, we wired up the local token, coin, Moment, Spark, credit, and XOT counters so you can watch the exact deductions happen as you trigger photos, voice notes, and videos—and hit Replay to reset the wallet whenever you want:

Questions people ask

How fast do Candy AI tokens run out on a paid plan?

Very fast if you use video or leave automatic media turned on. During our October 26, 2026 capture on a paid Candy AI Premium account, our balance started at 64 tokens and ended at 8 tokens across three short branches (5 photos, 4 voice notes, one 5-second requested video at 12 tokens, and one 15-second automatic video that deducted 30 tokens). At 8 tokens, we could no longer afford even a 5-second video.

Do Kindroid selfie credits cost extra money?

Not unless you buy paid credit packs to skip the queue. Kindroid's Standard subscription includes standard selfie credits that cap at 25 and regenerate automatically on a timer. During our capture, our standard credits dropped from 25 down to 18 after generating photos and an 8-second video selfie (5 credits), and then regenerated back to 25 on their own within three hours without spending a cent.

Which paid AI girlfriend app has no token or coin meter at all?

SpicyChat AI. On our $19.95/month True Supporter plan, GET /v2/users returned only our subscription status with no credits, coins, or tokens field. Generating three conversation images across Branches A, B, and C cost 0 coins and triggered no counter.

Why does DreamGF or Xotic show the wrong token balance in the header?

Because both apps cache the top-bar balance in the browser instead of syncing it after every server event. On Xotic AI, our header pill still read 479 XOT after a 50-XOT photo deduction when the server's true balance was 429 XOT, only catching up after a page reload. On DreamGF, the header subtracted 1 token for a failed voice message and failed to add the automatic server refund back until we reloaded.
