What did we see when we signed up to DarLink AI?
DarLink signed us up with Google without trouble. The account page then read “Plan: No plan yet”, and every plan on the pricing page was paid: $12.99, $27.99 or $49.99 a month, less if billed quarterly or yearly. Checkout offered a card or crypto. Its affiliate program advertises 60% lifetime commission.
That is a first look, not a review. We did not send DarLink our six messages, did not pay for a plan and have no card notice from it. For that reason it has no score on this page, and the nine apps below do.
Which tested apps let you talk for free?
Nomi put no paywall in front of us at all: our six-message test, the memory quiz and a selfie all happened on a free account, and it asked before spending the selfie credit. SpicyChat never capped us either — 46 messages in one free chat — and its character and avatar creators are free, though its memory notice appeared ten messages in and pictures in chat are paywalled.
Secrets gives 20 messages a day free, with no monthly Moments on that plan. Kindroid’s free plan is a taste of the premium model — 14 messages when we started, a subscribe window about four in. Xotic stops at five messages. DreamGF stops at ten with “PLEASE UPGRADE”, and Candy’s chat locked after the fifth message behind a private video.

Graded “good” when the reply did the job, “meh” when it half did, “miss” when it got it wrong, and “No reply” where the app never got that far — Candy’s free chat locked after five messages, so rounds five and six have no answer. Free-round winners are the ones we wrote down at the time; the paid rounds have no written winner line, so every app we graded “good” shares the round.

What do the nine tested apps cost and bill as?
One month of the plan we checked, the free plan as we found it, and the merchant string from our own card notice where we have one. We have no notice for Nomi or Kindroid, so those rows say so.
